Dirr says: "Used in the lower South and California, and according to one source, is probably not hardy below Zone 7."

Growth:

  Range: Grows from 30' to 50'.
Dirr says: "spreading branches that grow more upright than those of regular evergreen cultivars ('Sempervirens') but still approach a weeping tendency. "

Dirr says: "leaves emerge early, often in March and persist into fall. The tree is more or less evergreen in California and stays evergreen through most winters except when it loses its leaves during unusual cold snaps."

Dirr says: "Develops an attractive round-headed form of medium size for lawn & street use. Bark exfoliates early and is quite handsome. Trees in Athens, GA are low-branched with bad crotches and several have split and required removal."
