Armitage says: "The earliest flowering and most robust zephyr lily, it produces 4-6 bright green, channeled evergreen leaves about 18" long and 1/4" wide. The pure white fragrant flowers emerge as pointed, pink striped buds and open flat and starlike. Flowers open in April and May and continue for 4-6 weeks. This species is native to damp, acid, meadowlands and dry conditions result in small, fleeting flowers. Flowering occurs the second or third year."
