Growth:

Range: Grows from 6" to 15".

Flowers:

  Color(s): Purple, Red
Season(s): Spring

Armitage says: "The fragrant flowers are generally arranged in dense flat-toped heads, each flower about an inch wide, and consisting of 5 petals, fused for 1/3 of their length. Color of the flowers vary, from pale lavender to brilliant scarlet. Breeding has resulted in flowers with broad circular outlines, typical of most phlox flowers, and those with narrow, often fringed petals, appearing like stars, often referred to as star phloxes. Deadheading helps keep flowers in bloom a longer period of time."

Foliage:

Armitage says: "They are branched with quite variable leaves, ranging from narrow to oval leaves, sessile at their base or clasping the stems. The variability of structure extends to the leaf arrangement; opposite at the base and alternate above."
