Armitage says: "Plants are effective with other shade and moisture tolerant species such as trilliums, woodland phlox, false Solomon's seal, or Christmas fern.Tiarella requires moisture retentive, highly organic soils in medium to heavy shade.Dry soils or exposure to full sun results in anemic, scrawny plants which never fill out. Plants are effective with other shade and moisture tolerant species such as trilliums, woodland phlox, false Solomon's seal, or Christmas fern.Tiarella requires moisture retentive, highly organic soils in medium to heavy shade.Wet feet, particularly in the winter, also result in significant losses."

Armitage says: "Foliage is similar to Heuchera americana, American alumroot, in this respect although significant differences in flowers occur.Delicate pink-tinged flower buds gracefully evolve into starry creamy white flowers on 3-4" long racemes.The 1/4" wide flowers consist of sepals about ½ as long as the petals, 10 stamens with brown anthers, and remain in flower for about 6 weeks."

Armitage says: "Is a medium to small selection with dark green leaves and blotches of red, particularly near the center."
