Dirr says: "large form, may be trained into a tree, a massive 20 tp 25' high, 1 1/2 to 2 times as wide specimen has prospered at Kew Gardens. For textural effect this is a superb plant."

Color: Leaves are dark green in the summer.
Dirr says: "10 to 12" long, 3 to 4 1/2" wide leaves. Remind of Magnolia grandiflora and are extremely lustrous, almost black-green; for textural effect this is a superb plant."
