Armitage says: "Full sun, well drained soils."

  Range: Grows from 3' to 4'.

Flowers:

  Color(s): Red, Yellow
Season(s): Summer

Armitage says: "An outstanding eye-catching annual which grows about 3' tall and producing blood red flowers all summer. The flowers are made up of 5 sepals and 5 lobes on the fused petals, often reflexed when they open. The “hooded” appearance of each flower makes for most interesting and beautiful inflorescences (cymes)."  

Foliage:

  Armitage says: "The shiny 6" long lanceolate leaves are opposite and often have a white midrib, making the foliage rather handsome even when not in flower."
