Origin:

  Pennsylvania to Georgia, west to Iowa, Missouri and Oklahoma  

Sun/Water Requirements:

  Requires full sun.
Moderate to dry conditions.

Climate / Hardiness Zones:

  Zone 4 to Zone 8

Growth:

  Range: Grows from 30' to 50'.

Flowers:

  Season(s): Late Spring

Dirr says: "extremely fragrant, borne in dense racemes, 4 to 8" long in May to early June; mid-late April in Athens, GA. Effective to 7 to 10 days."  

Foliage:

  Deciduous
Color: Leaves are dark green and bluish-green in the summer and yellow and green in the fall.

Landscape Value:

  Can be used as an ornamental plant.

Dirr says: "An "alley cat" type tree which can survive under the toughest of conditions; not recommended for the home landscape, but definitely has a place in difficult areas. Several cultivars offer attractive foliage and flowers"
