  Zone 3 to Zone 9

Growth:

Flowers:

  Color(s): White
Season(s): Summer

Dirr says: "usually quite profuse and covering the entire plant. white to yellow-white due to stamens, June - July, borne in flat-topped cymes."

Foliage:

  Deciduous
Color: Leaves are dark green in the summer and yellow and green in the fall.

Fruit:

  Color: Purple, Black
Season(s): Early Fall
Dirr says: "plant multiple clones for best fruit set, August - September, rather pretty in late summer and certainly sustenance for birds."

Landscape Value:

Can be used as a grouping plant.

Dirr says: "Difficult to utilize in home landscapes because of its unkempt habit; potential near wet areas, naturalizing effect, roadshide plantings; foliage forms (cultivars) are rather handsome. Suckers profusely and requires constant attention if it is to be kept in presentable decent condition. When the foliage is coppiced (cut back) it proved effective in the border. This approach is common in Europe particularly with the golden, purple, and cut leaf forms."
