Armitage says: "Although perennial in Athens, it must be lifted in the fall north of zone 7."

  Range: Grows to 2'.
Armitage says: "Is similar to the species but more vigorous, growing to 3 1/2' tall."

Armitage says: "This is one the loveliest of the summer-flowering bulbs (actually a corm) and it is unfortunate that the species has such a limited range and color.The corms should be treated like those of gladiolus and dug in the fall after flowering but before the first severe frost, and dried in a warm room. This way she is able to enjoy the late flowers before frost cuts them down.Unfortunately, flowering declines if corms are not lifted and divided every year."

Armitage says: "The swordlike, mid green leaves are topped with long tubed, star-shaped, fragrant 2" diameter white flowers with purple throats."
