Can be used as a grouping plant.

Dirr says: "valued for durability and utility, the ornamental characters are secondary to other viburnums, good in hedges, groupings, masses, filler in shrub border. Its utilitarian and adaptable nature is readily evident for I have observed it growing in the sands of Cape Cod, not too far removed from the salt spray; in Nebraska it withstands high pH, heavy soils and the vagaries of that climate; without a doubt it is one of the most functional viburnums."
